Lanzarote Holidays in 2010 Planning a holiday in Lanzarote during 2010? You certainly won’t be alone – as despite the credit crunch and the weakness of the pound this small Canary Island still attracted close to 1.3 million visitors during the course of 2009. Which attests to the island’s enduring popularity. What are the reasons for this? Weather is the key – as Lanzarote enjoys a semi tropical climate all year round. Making it an accessible winter sun destination as well as a hot summer holiday favourite. The island is also very affordable – with cheap flights to Lanzarote available from all major UK airports.

The Main Resorts There are three main holiday resorts; Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca. During the winter months Playa Blanca is the destination of choice – for the simple reason that it enjoys better weather than its resort rivals to the north. As well as boasting the best selection of Lanzarote villas and apartments for rent. Puerto del Carmen is located around half an hour back along the south east coast and is the oldest resort on the island. Although the local tourist authorities have just invested over €16 million on updating facilities and amenities here. Whilst Costa Teguise is located at the northern end of the island and is best enjoyed during the summer months. Sightseeing There’s an awful of things to do and see on the island. So visitors are advised to arrange Lanzarote car hire and get out and explore.

The star attraction is the volcanic region – home to over 300 dormant volcanoes and some of the strangest scenery on the planet. And there are plenty of other natural attractions to explore such as The Green Lagoon and the Valley of 1000 Palms. Lanzarote is a real beach lover’s paradise too. With around 90 stretches of sand to explore – the best of which can be found at Famara, Arrieta and Papagayo. Fancy a spot of culture? Lanzarote won’t disappoint as the famous artist César Manrique was born here. And he created a number of highly unusual visitor attractions around the island. Such as the Mirador del Rio and the Jameos del Agua. Best Time To Visit Lanzarote can be enjoyed at any time of the year as even in December and January it will be warm enough here to enjoy days on the beach. The best months for visitors though are October and November. As the island enjoys a delightful Indian summer whilst the summer crowds are long gone.
